Kyoko Hamada is a Brooklyn based photographer who grew up in Japan until her family moved to West Virginia when she was a teenager. Hamada went to New York City to study art history, photography and painting, graduating from Pratt Institute.
Kyoko’s diverse background lends itself to her unique vision, capturing elegance and humour all at once. Her images delight the eye with subtle details and clever compositions that are rich in metaphors.
Hamada’s photographs have been featured in AI-AP, PDN 30, British National Portrait Gallery and the British Journal of Photography among others. Her project, I Used To Be You which she developed before and during her pregnancy was released as a book by London publisher Pocko in 2016.
